My Lockbox is designed to protect the contents of individual folders on your computer, allowing you to set password protection, limit access and edit permission, and more, alongside a number of other features that enhance what the default Windows settings provide for folder editing. While there are some issues with the interface and management end, the software works generally as promised.

PROS

Easy setup and folder control: It takes minimal time to set up a new account and start protecting your first folders. While the software only allows free account holders to protect one folder at a time, there are a number of other tools in place that are all accessible at the start; and for the most part, you can easily follow the prompts to get there.

Supporting toolsets: The interface is functional and works well in a modern Windows 7 and 8 layout, so accessing the additional tools the developers have provided for managing your folders and desktop privacy settings is fairly straightforward.

CONS

Usability concerns: While the interface looks and feels good for basic uses, such as locking down a folder, it can be cumbersome to find your way through if you’re trying to find a specific feature, and especially if you make a change and want to find the options you used to turn that change off. The tutorials and walkthroughs are sparing and the layout is focused on function rather than design.

My Lockbox is a privacy application, enabling you to hide and lock folders on your computer and protect them with password. The protected folder (lockbox) is hidden and locked from any user and application, no matter whether they are trying to get access – locally or from the net. To open the protected folder you must input a valid password. If you lost your My Lockbox password, you can request online password recovery. If you entered your email address when setting the password, you will receive the reset code by email and will get access to the protected files. My Lockbox is a very easy in use application. You can lock your folder and set your password right after the setup procedure – your folder will become hidden hidden and locked immediately. My Lockbox Control Panel lets you easily change program parameters: location of the protected folders, password, hotkeys, trusted processes and set many other options. A skinned user interface lets you choose from different themes to get the most comfortable look and feel of the software. The program is simple, effective, and best of all – has a free edition.
